“Yesterday was a spectacular day for baseball, and we at Whaling City could not have asked for better weather for the induction of Mr. Phil Adams into our Hall of Fame.

He served the youth of our league for 29 years concluding with his retirement as Manager of Daves in the year 2003. He was honored by the league prior to the first games on Opening Day. His family was on hand to accept his Hall of Fame plaque. He was a wonderful man who was respected by all he knew, and by those of us who have been in the league for many years and knew “Mr. Adams” we can tell you he was loved.

The very team that he coached for those 29 seasons was also inducted on Sunday as well. Daves began as Dave’s Dairy Bar and began sponsoring a team in 1971. The original sponsor Mr. Dave Sylvia also served our league as Treasurer from 1974 to 1976 and was also a longtime coach.” -Whaling City Youth Baseball League.
