New Bedford Responds to State Gaming Commission’s Request for Comment

mass-gaming-commissionIn response to a recent request for public comment by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, the City of New Bedford requested an extension of the Region C deadline by which casino operators seeking to locate in Southeastern Massachusetts may apply for a gaming license.

The City believes that this step will improve the competitive environment in Region C and maximize the opportunity for the City to conduct a full assessment of projects proposed for New Bedford. New Bedford’s comments are detailed in a March 17, 2014 letter to the Gaming Commission released today by the City.

In addition, New Bedford Mayor Jonathan Mitchell today released a three-page statement updating the public on the City’s efforts related to casino gaming and explaining the City’s rationale for its extension request. Read it here.
