New Bedford resident seeks public’s help in cleaning up Turner’s Pond

“I would like to bring to the attention of New Bedford residents: Turner’s Pond is on the outskirts of our City, It is on the other side of the airport near the Freetown line. It is a beautiful freshwater estuary that I explored yesterday.

It is in need of some clean up to preserve the natural beauty of the area. I was wondering if any of you are interested in giving a hand with that. I will be speaking with the Mayor’s office about getting some pickups of the trash collected. I think the city should help clean up so it can be enjoyed again. Especially now people need to get outside with the virus and all.

I will set a tentative date of October 11 which is a Sunday. I’m still working on details and I personally will be out there on the 10th just to get a head start on tires. If you can’t make it on Sunday, help on Saturday will work.

Things to consider:

1) long pants
2) gloves
3) bug spray as someone brought up that ticks are in the area.

If you have anything that you can use to pick up things from the ground it will save your back. Masks and social distancing are strongly suggested.

I will start on Saturday at 12:00 pm until dusk. Sunday 10:00 am until dusk.

We have a true treasure in our own city, lets take care of it!” -Bryan Dion.
