New Bedford Public Schools will be closed on Thursday, January 8, 2015 due to an intense arctic cold front in the region that is expected to produce severely cold temperatures.

“With wind chill values as low as -24 degrees Fahrenheit anticipated and a Wind Chill Advisory in effect Thursday morning, we are taking this step out of concern for the large number of our students who walk to school every day or wait outside for their school buses,” said Superintendent Pia Durkin.

Please note that offices at the Paul Rodrigues Administration Building, high school and middle schools will remain open.

  1. It’s brutal that New Bedford Voc Tech hasn’t cancelled school for tomorrow. Arctic temperature -24 is good enough reason versus a dusting of snow.
