New Bedford police suggest calm amid increased clown sightings

There have been several clown sightings in the south coast, MA area to include New Bedford. We recently shared a sighting on our Facebook page on October 3rd where two clowns were spotted coming out of the woods in the north end.

Here is a message from the New Bedford police regarding there response to the increase in clown sightings:

“We know there is a lot of concern out there about sightings of people dressed as clowns and reported threats connected to them. We certainly understand that people are unsettled by this. Please be reassured that we are taking the community’s concerns seriously and are assessing each incident as it occurs. Out of an abundance of caution, we have stepped up patrols around city schools. We see no reason to be unnecessarily worried but encourage anyone aware of any suspicious behavior to call us.”
