“Narcotics and Gang Detectives seized approximately 47.5 grams of fentanyl, 53.9 grams of crack cocaine, a stolen large capacity handgun, 17 bullets, and $13,947 at 1 Sylvia Ct. Apt. #2.

The target of the search warrant was Giovanny Acevedo, 32. Acevedo and his brother Rey Acevedo, 33, were both arrested and charged with trafficking and firearm offenses. Giovanny Acevedo currently has an open case out of 3rd district court for a drug trafficking case made by Dartmouth PD in October of last year.

Detective Stephen Gwozdz investigated the case.

“This latest raid is a clear indication that the NBPD is not letting up on its aggressive approach to ensuring these deadly drugs are taken off our streets,” says Chief Joseph Cordeiro. This raid falls on the heels of New Bedford’s largest drug seizure in the history of the department over the weekend when $400,000 worth of fentanyl was seized at 2100 Phillips Rd. “We will continue to utilize all our resources in identifying dealers and shutting them down,” he added.” -New Bedford Police.
