New Bedford Police arrest 52-year old repeat drug trafficking offender

“***REPEAT OFFENDER ARRESTED FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING***

New Bedford police detectives have seized narcotics and cash from a man with a history of drug distribution.

On March 7, detectives assigned to the “Organized Crime Intelligence Bureau” executed a search warrant at 201 Tinkham St., #2. The target of the search warrant was BRUCE LONG, 52.

As a result of the search, detectives located approximately 22 grams of cocaine, 74 grams of fentanyl and $11,688.00 in US currency. The cash was seized as proceeds from illicit drug trade. LONG was taken into custody and charged with trafficking in excess of 36 grams of fentanyl and trafficking in excess of 18 grams of cocaine subsequent to prior conviction.

LONG has a history of narcotics-related charges. He currently has an open case in New Bedford district court stemming from an arrest in December of 2020 during which he was charged with numerous narcotics related offenses including; trafficking fentanyl in excess of 10 grams, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and crack cocaine as subsequent offenses, distribution of crack and fentanyl, and conspiracy to violate the controlled substance laws.

The lead investigator was Det. Lavar Gilbert.
