New Bedford police recover loaded gun, cocaine in traffic stop
Last night at approximately 9pm members of the Organized Crime and Intelligence Bureau, Gang Unit, and members of the State Police gang unit, stopped a 2006 Mercedes Benz in the area of Page and Allen St. Detective Lavar Gilbert had obtained a search warrant for this vehicle and the operator, Joey Wilson.
As a result of the search, detectives found a loaded 44 caliber 5 shot Bulldog revolver, 7 grams of cocaine, digital scale, and $2,617 in cash. 3 additional rounds of ammunition were also found along with an electric stun gun that also works as a flashlight.
Scheduled to be arraigned this morning in New Bedford district court;
Joey Wilson age 19 of Edward St. in New Bedford:
- Unlawful possession of cocaine with intent to distribute
- Unlawful carrying a firearm
- Unlawful carrying a loaded firearm
- Possession of ammunition
- Possession of an electrical stun gun.
