A handgun was located by a maintenance worker Tuesday in the basement of 88 Ruth St.
The worker originally thought the weapon in question was a bb gun but when he examined the item more closely he observed a round in the chamber. He then placed the weapon on a shelf and called police.
The gun was a Jennings firearm .22LR caliber hand gun. A magazine and seven rounds of .22LR ammunition were also located. The weapon was badly corroded.
