New Bedford Police Department charge man for sexually assaulting woman at Buttonwood Park

“On November 3 at 9am, a male suspect approached a woman in the area of the Buttonwood Park playground. He attempted to kiss her and physically groped her before she fought off his attempt and called for police.

The suspect began leaving the area on foot but was apprehended nearby by west-end patrol officers; J. Marinelli and A. Ryder. The suspect was identified as DEVIN BRYCE PACHECO, 20, of 43 Newton St. PACHECO was placed under arrest and charged with indecent assault and battery.

PACHECO was involved in a similar incident several months ago at a local supermarket. On August 22, he approached a woman as she was shopping in a store aisle and groped her from behind. On that date, he was placed under arrest by Ofc. D. Raymond who was working a paid detail. That case remains open at New Bedford district court.

As a result of this new charge, the Bristol County District Attorney’s office requested that his bail be revoked, which Judge Malone agreed to. He is now being held on $15k bail.
