New Bedford police investigating three shootings within 4 hours on Monday

New Bedford police are following several leads in an active investigation of three incidents of shots fired Monday. All three incidents were reported by the Shotspotter detection system. No injuries were reported in any of the incidents.

The first incident was reported around 6 p.m. in the area of Kempton and Chancery streets. A parked vehicle sustained damage.

The second incident was reported at about 10 p.m. in the area of Ash Street between Hillman and Maxfield Street. No evidence of shots fired was found at the scene.

The third incident was reported shortly after 10 p.m. in the area of Smith and Chancery streets. Preliminary investigation indicated that a home at 222 Smith St. sustained damage.
