New Bedford police interrupt Fentanyl delivery service; seize Fentanyl, heroin, pills and $1,864

New Bedford Police Narcotics Division took fentanyl, heroin, pills and $1,864 off the street Monday as part of an investigation into a fentanyl delivery service out of 161 Fillmore St.

Police observed the target of their search warrant, Roberto Lugo-Gallardo, 37, of 59 Hill St. Apt. 2, New Bedford, and Cassandra Loonie, 32, of 161 Fillmore St., New Bedford, in a motor vehicle near the address.

When police approached the vehicle, they observed Lugo-Gallardo throw a bag containing 2.6 grams of fentanyl onto the back seat. Subsequent investigation found a small amount of heroin and 20 pills on Loonie’s possession. Packaging materials and $1,864 were discovered following a subsequent search of the 161 Fillmore St. address.

Lugo-Gallardo was charged with possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute and conspiracy to violate drug laws. Loonie was charged with possession of Clonazepam, possession of Alprazolam and possession of heroin.

The arrests were made at about 6:29 p.m.

Lugo-Gallardo was arraigned Tuesday and released on personal recognizance.
