New Bedford Police Department arrest 16 year old with gun

New Bedford police patrol officers have seized a firearm from a 16-year-old following a traffic stop.

On March 12, gang unit detectives received information regarding an escalating conflict between individuals on social media. This information was passed on to members of the patrol division who remained on high alert.

At approximately 6pm, a vehicle was observed accelerating through the “Temple Landing” apartment complex, with an individual hanging out of the window, yelling and animated.

Ofc. Terrell Parent conducted a stop of the vehicle at the Kempton St./Chancery St. intersection. The vehicle was found to contain 5 occupants, 4 of whom were juveniles. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that one juvenile was in possession of a loaded, 9mm Taurus semi-automatic firearm. The juvenile was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with carrying a loaded firearm and operating a motor vehicle unlicensed. The only adult in the vehicle, YUZEYKA NEGRON, 19, was placed under arrest for two active warrants.
