New Bedford Police Department County St. operation leads to 7 arrests

An operation conducted in the area of the County St. bar district has resulted in 7 arrests for a variety of charges.

On November 23, detectives assigned to the “Organized Crime Intelligence Bureau” began an operation which established surveillance in this problematic area. Numerous complaints had been received by neighbors and business owners regarding suspected drug activity. Acting on these complaints, detectives were able to disrupt criminal activity at this location and place seven individuals under arrest. Among those arrested were:

JOSE LUX, 34, 600 S. Second St., #3, charged with possession of class B substance “crack” cocaine and conspiracy to violate the controlled substance law.

AILTON PINA, 28, 176 Davis St., #1, arrested for an outstanding warrant. He was also charged with distribution of class B substance “crack” cocaine subsequent to a previous conviction, and conspiracy to violate the controlled substance law.

CARLOS QUINTANA-ESPINOSA, 56, 116 County St., #1, arrested for possession of class A substance, fentanyl, with intent to distribute subsequent to a previous conviction and conspiracy to violate the controlled substance law.

SAMUEL SANTANA, 25, 91 Willis St., arrested for operating under a suspended license and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. $2,525 seized.

JAYLEN CLINT FERNANDES, 25, 550 Hawes St., arrested for distribution of class B substance “crack” cocaine subsequent to a previous conviction and conspiracy to violate the controlled substance law. $1,475 seized.

AURELIO VELAZQUEZ, 56, 92 Holly St., #2, arrested for possession of class B substance “crack” cocaine and conspiracy to violate the controlled substance law.

CARLOS TAVARES, 38, 167 Bluefield St., #1, arrested for possession of class B substance “crack” cocaine and conspiracy to violate the controlled substance law.
