New Bedford Police hosting Citizen’s Police Academy this fall

The New Bedford Police Department will be hosting a Citizen’s Police Academy this fall. A definite date is to be determined. They are asking anyone 18 years or older who are interested to complete an application which could be obtained on the New Bedford Police Department’s web page. www.newbedfordpd.com click on forms then citizens police academy.

The program will run for 8 weeks from 6-9pm and will be held at police headquarters which is located at 871 Rockdale Ave. Those interested would have to pass a background check.

  1. Do you have to be a New Bedford residents or can anyone apply?

    • Hi Ethan!

      I’m not sure if there is a residency requirement like there is with cadets. Call Lt. Rezendes or stop in at the police station.

      I sent a message to one of my friend’s on the force. I’ll let you know when he replies.
