New Bedford Police Department arrests two on firearm and narcotics charges

“New Bedford Police detectives have arrested two men in two separate cases for gun and drug charges.

On Friday, April 15, detectives executed a search warrant for 941 South Water Street with the target being Luis Velazquez Agosto, 21, as well as his vehicle.

While searching the home, detectives seized a Poly P80 ghost gun loaded with nine rounds, 13 bags of fentanyl weighing 20.1 grams, a digital scale, two plastic bags of cocaine weighing 0.5 grams, plastic bags with corners cut out, a blender, and $307 as a result of drug proceeds. Detectives also found on Agosto three bags of Fentanyl weighing 1.7 grams.

Agosto was arrested and charged with possession of ammunition without an FID card, possession of a large-capacity firearm, possession of a large-capacity firearm in a felony, trafficking in 18 grams or more of fentanyl, conspiracy to violate the drug law, possession to distribute a class B drug, and career criminal act due to two prior juvenile convictions of robbery and possession of a stun gun.

On the same day, detectives seized a Ruger 357 Magnum revolver loaded with 5 rounds of ammunition off Yeniel Colon, 19, of 306 Ashley Boulevard. Colon was charged with a warrant arrest, carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a firearm without a license loaded, and possession of ammunition without an FID card.” -New Bedford Police Department.
