The New Bedford Police Department Narcotics Division arrested a juvenile on firearm and drug charges.
On Sept. 30, 2021, detectives executed a search warrant at 23 Tallman Street with the target being a 17-year-old juvenile.
As a result of the search, detectives seized fentanyl, along with a digital scale and packaging materials. They also discovered two handguns; a 9mm Poly 80, a 9mm Beretta which was later found to have been stolen out of New Hampshire, and over 223 rounds of ammunition.
Both pistols were found to be loaded with high-capacity magazines.
The arresting officer, Det. Nathaniel Almeida, charged the 17-year-old with a variety of narcotics and firearm related offenses. The defendant is currently on juvenile probation.
Later that day, a search warrant was executed for 353 Coggeshall Street #2. The targets of the investigation were Ernesto Montalvo, 38, and Craig Pickin, 57.
Detectives seized a loaded 45 caliber handgun, approximately 30 grams of Fentanyl, 1.2 grams of cocaine, packaging materials, digital scales, a ledger, and $3,200 which was seized as the result of it being proceeds from an illicit drug trade.
The arresting officer, Det. Drew Frenette, charged both suspects with trafficking in fentanyl along with other narcotics and firearm related charges.
