New Bedford Police Department makes arrest in Tallman St. shooting

“Not slowing down!

An arrest has been made in connection with a Feb. 6 shooting at 78 Tallman St. that left two victims wounded by gunshots.

On Monday morning, NBPD Detectives arrested Lyrik A. Vernosky Caraballo, 23, 3 Abbott St., Apt. #1S. He was charged with two counts of assault and battery by discharge of a firearm, two counts of armed assault to murder, and multiple counts of firearms-related offenses.

Just after midnight on Feb. 6, police responded to a call for shots fired at the Tallman St. location. Two victims were located and transported to the hospital with gunshot wounds. Both victims survived.

Detective Jason Gangi, lead investigator of this case, is also a task force officer working with the US Marshal’s Service and MA State Police “Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section.” Assisted by members of this collective, Detective Gangi began a search for the suspect which lead to the subsequent arrest.

Caraballo is currently on probation stemming from a drug distribution conviction last year.”-New Bedford Police Department .
