New Bedford Police arrest 19-year old man with stolen property, faces numerous charges

New Bedford police have arrested a man for various charges.

On December 3, 2021, at approximately 2 a.m., police responded to a call regarding masked man with a sweatshirt and a backpack trying car doors at the intersection of Tremont Street and Elm Street. Officer Mark Felix located the man a short distance away and identified him as Jonathan Navarro, 19, of 427 Dartmouth Street #1. While doing a background search, Navarro was found to have two active warrants for his arrest.

While searching his backpack, officers found a laptop that later came back registered to the Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School, and he was also found with a scooter which was found to have been stolen property.

Navarro was arrest for two active warrants and additionally charged with larceny under $1,200, receiving stolen property under $1,200, and disturbing the peace.

The arresting officer was Jason Orlando.

He also has numerous open cases in New Bedford District Court for a variety of offenses including A&B on a police officer, carrying a dangerous weapon, A&B with a dangerous weapon, providing a false name
and resisting arrest.
