“New Bedford police detectives have arrested a local male for possession of a handgun.
On March 5, detectives assigned to the “Organized Crime Intelligence Bureau” received information concerning a local male being in illegal possession of a pistol. The male was identified as DONNIE MONIZ, 18, of 52 Rivet St., #2.
On this evening, detectives located MONIZ within a group of other males standing in “Monte’s” park playground. Upon further investigation, it was learned that MONIZ was in possession of a loaded, Glock-19, 9mm handgun along with 11 rounds of ammunition. MONIZ was placed under arrest and taken into custody without incident.
The lead investigators were Det. Nathan Goncalo and Det. Samuel Algarin-Mojica.
