New Bedford police arrest five in heroin, cocaine bust on Holly St

On Friday evening at approximately 9:45pm members of the Organized Crime Intelligence Bureau executed a search warrant at 96 Holly St. 3rd floor. This was the result of an investigation by Det. Bruce Nicely into drugs being sold out of the apartment. Surveillance of the residence showed heavy foot traffic going in and out of the home throughout the course of last week.

As Detectives prepared to execute the warrant, Aaron Sylvia was seen coming down the stairs after purchasing narcotics and attempted to flee. He ran into the rear yard and tossed a bag of cocaine that became stuck in a small tree. He was placed under arrest without incident.

Inside the apartment Detectives located Richard Blakney, Derek Wiggins, Caridad Soria, and Aaron Johnson. All four were placed under arrest for various drug charges.

As a result of the search, 26 individual bags of cocaine, 29 individual bags of heroin, and $3,403 in cash was seized.

Scheduled to be arraigned this morning in New Bedford district court;

  • Richard Blakney age 26 of New Bedford
  • Derek Wiggins age 43 of New Bedford
  • Caridad Soria age 31 of New Bedford
  • Aaron Johnson age 46 of New Bedford
  • Aaron Sylvia age 25 of New Bedford
