New Bedford Police Department offers some advice and tips for bear roaming city

“On May 22nd, during the late afternoon hours, there were several sightings of a black bear walking through the neighborhoods to the north of the airport.

As it is uncommon to encounter black bears within the city limits, we would like to direct you to these helpful safety tips and recommendations provided by the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries & Wildlife: mass.gov/doc/what-to-do-if-you-encounter-a-black-bear/.

You can report further bear sightings to the police by calling 911.” -New Bedford Police Department.
