New Bedford overflow shelter seeks volunteers, donations

image_pdfimage_print

The overflow shelter in New Bedford needs help as they are staying open in the day due to the extremely cold weather….they need help this week:

Wednesday (1/3): need 2-3 more helpers
Thursday (1/4): need 2-3 more helpers
Friday: they are all set!
Saturday (1/6): need 4 helpers
Sunday: they are all set!
Monday (1/8): need 4 helpers

A volunteer would assist the staff by monitoring the hall between 3-9 p.m. Or a volunteer could also help with meal prep from 2-4 p.m.

Also, if anyone has any old magazines, books, games, or DVDs to help entertain the guests during the day….please let me know!

They have 36 regulars (25 men 11 women) and have had 30 overflow guests as well which has been taxing on their resources and regular volunteers.

If you are able to do any of the above, please contact the volunteer coordinator, Robin Muise 617-694-5541.
