New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park announces winter hours of operation

New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park and Roger Williams National Memorial announce winter hours of operation for their visitor centers. The visitor centers at both New Bedford Whaling NHP and Roger Williams NM will be open to the public from 9 AM to 5 PM Wednesday through Sunday, January through March 2019. The visitor centers will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays during this period as well as on New Year’s Day. New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park’s visitor center is located at 33 William Street in downtown New Bedford, Massachusetts. Roger Williams National Memorial is located at 282 Main Street in downtown Providence, Rhode Island.

New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park was established by Congress in 1996 to help preserve and interpret America’s nineteenth century whaling industry. The park, which encompasses a 13-block National Historic Landmark District, is the only National Park Service unit addressing the history of the whaling industry and its influence on the economic, social, and environmental history of the United States. The visitor center is wheelchair accessible and there is no fee to enter. Roger Williams National Memorial, established by Congress in 1965, commemorates the life of the founder of Rhode Island who was a champion of the ideals of religious freedom and liberty of conscience. The memorial visitor center is located at 282 North Main Street in downtown Providence, is wheelchair accessible and there is no fee to enter memorial facilities.
