New Bedford Man Charged With Heroin Trafficking

New Bedford police narcotics unit arrested a city man and took 22.4 grams of heroin off the street Tuesday following an investigation into heroin sales in the south end of the city.

Ary Ramirez, 25, of 1366 Pleasant St. Apt. 3, New Bedford, was charged with trafficking in heroin and possession of heroin with intent to distribute (subsequent offense). He was convicted in January 2012 for dealing heroin. He also has a pending case in Bristol Superior Court for dealing heroin as a result of his arrest in January 2016.

Ramirez was observed exiting a residence on George Street and getting into a vehicle. When police approached the vehicle, they found 22.4 grams of heroin and $481 in currency in his possession.

The arrest was made at 7:59 p.m.
