New Bedford man arrested Sunday for breaking and entering

On Sunday, January 10, 2016, at approximately 7:30am Officers Norman Duchesneau and Walter Gaj Jr. were dispatched to the area of Union St. and Lincoln St. on a break in progress. The second floor tenant heard noises on the first floor and knew that the occupant was at work.

Upon arrival, officer observed a broken window at the rear of the home and saw movement inside the first floor apartment. The suspect attempted to flee but was taken into custody without incident.Inside the home, the suspect had stacked up a television and other electronics that he was preparing to steal.

Scheduled to be arraigned this morning in New Bedford district court; Thomas Hurd age 56 of New Bedford. He is facing charges of Breaking and Entering in the daytime and Larceny in a Building.
