New Bedford man arrested on drug trafficking charges

Last night at approximately 7pm members of the Southeastern Massachusetts Gang Task Force executed two search warrants in the city of New Bedford. The first being at 379 Cedar St. apt. 2 south and the second at 7 Beetle St. apt. 1.

This was the result of an investigation by Det. Jason Gangi of the New Bedford Police Dept. assisted by members of Dartmouth and State Police.

The suspect was taken into custody when he arrived home at 379 Cedar St. A search of that location turned up a safe with $17,991 in cash.

The search of the Beetle St. apartment turned up approximately 400 grams (nearly a pound) of heroin and 50 grams of cocaine.

The drugs have a street value of over $50,000 dollars.

Scheduled to be arraigned this morning in New Bedford district court on drug trafficking charges;
