New Bedford man arrested on 8 charges after allegedly striking police vehicle with a child in his car

On Saturday at 2:40 pm, New Bedford police narcotics officers attempted to stop a vehicle, but the driver allegedly failed to stop and stuck a New Bedford Police Department police vehicle. After a brief chase, officers arrested the driver and discovered a child in the vehicle with the driver. No injuries were reported.

29-year old Jeremiah Cowart of New Bedford is being charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended/revoked license, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, three counts of failure to stop, leaving the scene of property damage, reckless endangerment to a child under 18 and failure to stop for police.
