New Bedford man arrested for trafficking $20,000 in cocaine

On Wednesday, December 4, Detectives from the New Bedford Police Narcotics Unit seized 180 grams of cocaine at a street value of $20,000 after a search at 2015 Purchase Street.

As a result of the incident, 40-year old Manual Almeida of 2015 Purchase St., apt. 2S was arrested and charged with trafficking cocaine in excess of 100 grams or more, possession with intent to distribute Class B, Distribution Class B and conspiracy to violate drug laws. In relation to the incident, 53-year old Nicole Brisson was arrested and charged with for possession of cocaine.

The incident stemmed from detectives observing Almeida in a suspected drug transaction with Brisson. Brisson was stopped and found in possession of cocaine. Almeida was subsequently stopped and found in possession of cocaine and cash. A following search of Almeida’s residence resulted in the discovery of 180 grams of cocaine and $154 in cash.

Both were arraigned in Third District Court on Thursday.
