New Bedford Parking meter holiday programIn an effort to encourage everyone to do their holiday shopping in New Bedford, the City is offering a special Holiday Parking Program. Effective Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 2010 through Sunday, January 2, 2011 New Bedford is offering FREE 2-Hour parking at metered spaces in both the Downtown area and on Acushnet Avenue and 2-Hour FREE parking at the Elm Street Garage, the Zeiterion Garage and Custom House Square!

If you are parked at a meter in either the Downtown or on Acushnet Avenue while doing your holiday shopping and you receive a ticket because your vehicle overstayed the 2 Hour limit, take or mail your parking ticket along with a copy of the sales receipt for over $10.00 from a Downtown or North End Business District restaurant/merchant to the Traffic Commission Office. The ticket will be forgiven with the presentation of the same day receipt.

The Traffic Commission Office is located at 51 Elm Street and is open from Monday through Thursday from 8:00am to 5:00pm and Friday from 8:00am to 12:00pm (noon). Questions regarding the Holiday Parking Program can be directed to the Traffic Commission Office at (508) 961-3153.

The 2010 Holiday Parking Program is sponsored by the City of New Bedford Office of the Mayor in conjunction with Downtown New Bedford Inc. and the North End Business Association.
