  1. Yay my two picks are the top 2. Thank you!

  2. I haven’t been in a long while, but I thought TA Restaurant in Fall River was excellent. I am surprised it didn’t make this list. Especially considering I see at least a couple of restaurants on the list that have no business claiming they serve GREAT Portuguese food. Just saying.

  3. Your funny you call Antonios the best .. Get around try Tilias stk or bourbon stk tips or shrimp moz.. You want flavor with a bang or you want that boring flavor that you think is Portuguese ..

  4. The best place I have found around Fallriver is Pauls place on East Main St.
The BEST Portuguese Steak around. Try it If you haven’t already. You won’t wanna go anywhere else.

  5. OGil’s in Fall River is great too…there were very few voters….never saw this…? try to run this again?

  6. Maryann OConnell

A few years back I used to go to Cafe Funchal. It was really good. Is it still around?

    • Jesse Baptista

They use to be near Nash Road on Acushnet Avenue and were just the best! They closed that down and opened up a HUGE place on the top of Nash Road and Church or Brook street? It was much too big and they only lasted a few years there before going belly up.I think they might have opened up a much smaller place back on Acushnet Avenue but from what I have been told they are NOTHING like they use to be. They were by far the best years ago !

      • I believe the former owners of Funchal are the same owners as The Roasted Pig…which is also on this list.

    • Cafe Funchal is renting the building that is The Roasted Pig.

    • Cafe Funchal rents out the Roasted Pig building

    • Funchal is closed. The owners now own the Roasting Pig in new bedford.

  7. It’s a shame Tilia’s Cafe didn’t make this list. Their food is amazing. Every dish I have had from there was packed with flavor, unlike Antonio’s. It’s safe to say that the majority of people that voted were obviously American and have no idea what real Portuguese is supposed to taste like. It’s not what Antonio’s serves up, that’s for sure.

  8. Inner Bay Cafe was by far one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to or eaten at. The seafood was over cooked and old, shrimp tasted like rubber with no flavor at all the scallops were the texture of tennis balls also with no flavor, the fish of the day was so gross it tasted like I was eatting rotten fish and the rice was undercooked. It just seems like a place that you get the worst of both worlds land/sea food. Dont even waste your time unless your a faithful customer just because its your heritage to support your people, otherwise go enjoy your dinner else where.

  9. Cafe Funchal is renting the building that is The Roasted Pig.

  10. Great list! #1 and #3 are my favorite! #21 should be higher but great list!! Wish I was home!

  11. My worst dining experience ever was at Cotali Mar Restaurante. I ordered a steak dinner which turned out to be spoiled. After informing the waitress, she took my plate away, and I wasn’t offered a different meal nor was the meal comped (yup, I paid to not eat rotten steak). I wrote a respectful letter, which went unanswered.

  12. Funny how most portuguese ppl dont go to Antonios. Says something…….

  13. Antonio’s by far.

  14. If you want a Rubber Steak go to Antonio’s ! It s way overrated, shouldn’t even be on the List. I could even chew my steak, my last visit there, it was literally like Rubber! Worst meal I have ever eaten at any Restaurant. There are plenty of great places to eat, judge for yourself, don’t listen to people that don’t have a clue about good food, Portuguese or any for that matter! Just remember we all have Different Taste !
