New Bedford firefighters heading to South Carolina for hurricane

The Southeastern Massachusetts Technical Rescue Team will be deploying a 46-member type II moving water/ flood rescue team to South Carolina. This is an Emergency Management assistance compact deployment in support of the South Carolina emergency management agency. This team will deploy Saturday morning for a potential 14-day deployment.

Two 2 members of the NBFD will deploy, along with 9 other firefighters from Bristol County. All those deploying are members of the Bristol County Technical Rescue Team. Two rescue boats based in New Bedford along with a Cache of rescue water rescue equipment will also be deployed.

Deployments like this increase the skills and capability of local fire departments to meet the ever the needs of our communities.
