Shortly after 3:00pm this yesterday afternoon, the NBFD received multiple 911 calls reporting a house fire at 76 Thomas Street in the west end. Engines 1, 7, and 8, Ladders 1 and 3 along with Command Units 1 and 2 responded.

Upon arrival, crews were met with a two-story two-family wood frame dwelling with fire extending into a second floor bedroom.

Crews from Engine 1 and Engine 7 made their way to the second floor, extinguished the fire, and cut off its extension into the rear apartment. Ladder 1 conducted a primary search of the two units. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Prevention Bureau.
