New Bedford Fire Department issues update on two recent fires

“On Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 2314 hrs, the Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 113 Reynolds Street. Upon arrival District Chief Dave Cooper observed fire extending from a second-floor window of this three-family wood-framed dwelling. Crews were able to confine the fire to one bedroom.

The fire is being investigated by the Fire Investigation Unit. The cause was determined to be intentionally set and a male suspect was arrested by the MA State Police a short time after the fire. The American Red Cross is assisting the tenants. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.

Earlier today at 0344 hrs, the Fire Department responded to a reported motor vehicle fire in the area of 35-39 Glennon Street. Upon arrival, District Chief Matthew Ostiguy reported two vehicles fully involved and two vehicles parked across the street sustaining fire damage.

The exterior of 35 Glennon Street sustained exterior fire damage. Two of the vehicles and four ABC Disposal receptacles were a total loss. No civilian or firefighters were injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the NBFD Fire Investigation Unit.”
