New Bedford Fire Department respond to three separate fires on Saturday

“The New Bedford Fire Department responded to three separate fire incidents on Saturday April 30.

The first incident occurred in front of 341 Summer Street at 10:00am. A commercial construction vehicle was well involved in fire in front of this address. The nearby residence did not sustain any fire damage. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental.

The second incident, occurred at 8:30pm when crews responded to a reported structure fire at 136 Tallman Street. An accidental fire involving a space heater and nearby combustibles was confined to the third floor apartment. The American Red Cross assisted two displaced adult residents. Damage to the apartment was estimated at $11,000. No injuries were reported.

The third incident occurred just after 11:00pm at 176 Durfee Street. Engine 7 arrived and reported a fully involved camper in close proximity to a residence. The fire was extinguished without any extension to the nearby residence. One dog was located inside the camper however resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful. The fire was investigated by the Fire Investigation Unit and remains under investigation.” -New Bedford Fire Department.
