New Bedford Fire Department responds to fire on Coggeshall Street

At approximately 4:30am this morning, the New Bedford Fire Department responded to reports of a fire on 311 Coggeshall Street.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a stove in a three-family tenement was on fire and quickly extinguished it. Two people with smoke injuries were transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford. It is believed that the injuries were not burn related injuries, but due to smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
