New Bedford/Fairhaven Bridge Will Be Closed for Two Weeks

According to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, the New Bedford/Fairhaven bridge will be closed to traffic from Sunday, March 30th to 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 12th, 2014. They will be performing some major steel structural work.

  1. Instead Of Replacing The Bridge, How About Reviving The Darwin, Daley Plan Of A Few Decades Ago. In That Plan, Coming From Fhvn., The RoUt Would Turn North Along The East Shore Of The River And Cross The River Well To The North Of The Fishing Fleet And ThusLy Could Be A Far More Simple Bridge Structure.

  2. I work at L&S Concrete and we’ve been doing quite a bit of work out there with Middlesex. They’re hoping to have construction finished this year, but it’s already gone way over schedule. Fine by me, gives us plenty of work!

  3. This is one of the last. Why is it that we’re always dumping History and impressive landmarks with crap that never lasts and means nothing. I used to walk across this bridge and stand and watch the ships and harbor when I was a teen and young adult. I’m certain that there are many more who don’t want “progress” that has a cost.
