The New Bedford Education Foundation has announced that through a partnership with the Carney Family Foundation, grant applications are available for New Bedford Public Schools teachers through the NBEF website – newbedfordeducationfoundation.org

The Carney Family Foundation has pledged up to $25,000 for individual awards of up to $3,500 as part of the CFF-NBEF Educator STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) Innovation Grant program available through the NBEF.

Kathryn Duff, chair of NBEF Grants and Distribution, said, “This an exciting partnership that expands the New Bedford Education Foundation’s educator grant programs. With the Carney Family Foundation partnership we are able to increase funding for innovative STEAM programs and provide opportunities for educators to collaborate and participate in program and professional development as part of the grant. It is a pleasure working with the Carney Family Foundation and the New Bedford School District on the development of this important CFF-NBEF Educator STEAM Innovation Grant as we continue our commitment to fostering educational opportunities for New Bedford public school students that are exceptional and transformative.”

“We are looking forward to innovative, creative applications from our teachers for science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics grants that can further the teaching and learning in their classrooms through their proposed projects,” said Superintendent Pia Durkin. “Projects like this are possible because of the mission and the generosity of our partners at the New Bedford Education Foundation and the Carney Family Foundation, and we are grateful for their vested interest in New Bedford’s students and educators.”
