New Bedford approves casino

In an historic vote, New Bedford voters approved a $650 million by 73% to 27%, or 8355 votes to 3040. This puts New Bedford against Brockton for the final casino in Massachusetts. Brockton residents approved a casino to be built at the Brockton Fairgrounds by 143 votes, 7,163 to 7,020. The Massachusetts Gaming Commission is expected to award a license to one of the developers at the end of 2015 or the beginning of 2016.
