NBSO Hosts Party of the Century!

Come celebrate New Bedford Symphony Orchestra’s centennial season!

On Saturday, September 19, the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra kicks off its centennial season with the party of the century! The festivities will get started with a special birthday event at 5:30pm at the Star Store, 715 Purchase Street, New Bedford (across the street from the Zeiterion Theatre) with music, balloons and lots of delicious food. The menu includes chicken paella, a vegetarian option of mushroom and kale florentine raviolis, tapas stations, and a cash bar. Event tickets are $25 per person and are available through the NBSO office, 508-999-6276. NBSO 100th Birthday Supporters are First Citizens’ Federal Credit Union and Cleengineering.

At 6:45pm, all concertgoers are invited to join in celebrating the NBSO’s 100th birthday as we move to the street in front of The Z for our cake-cutting ceremony and free birthday cake!

The opening night performance of “Berlioz, Sibelius & Dvořák,” featuring the return of violinist Martin Chalifour, begins at 7:30pm at the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center. Concert tickets are $25‒$60, with $10 student tickets. Purchase tickets through the Z box office, 508-994-2900, or online at www.nbsymphony.org. (Student tickets not available online.) Discounted season tickets are available by subscribing to three or more concerts; call the NBSO at 508-999-6276 for more information. Free and convenient concert parking is available in the Z garage. The New Bedford Symphony celebrates its 100th anniversary this 2015-16 season! In 1915, New Bedford schoolteacher Clarence Arey founded a symphony orchestra to bring classical music to our region.
