On Saturday, September 19, the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra kicks off its centennial season with the party of the century! The festivities will get started with a special birthday event at 5:30pm at the Star Store, 715 Purchase Street, New Bedford (across the street from the Zeiterion Theatre) with music, balloons and lots of delicious food. The menu includes chicken paella, a vegetarian option of mushroom and kale florentine raviolis, tapas stations, and a cash bar. At 6:45pm, all concertgoers are invited to join in celebrating the NBSO’s 100th birthday as we move to the street in front of The Z for our cake-cutting ceremony and free birthday cake!
The opening night performance of “Berlioz, Sibelius & Dvořák,” featuring the return of violinist Martin Chalifour, begins at 7:30pm at the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center.
