#GivingTuesday marks the start of the giving season, when people begin to focus on holiday and year-end giving. Since 2012, #GivingTuesday has celebrated and supported giving and philanthropy, and donations of time and money have helped organizations, charities, and events in our own community and throughout the world. Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, this year’s #GivingTuesday falls on November 29.

This #GivingTuesday, the New Bedford Symphony is partnering with Rise Up for Homes because we believe that together we have the power to end homelessness. We ask that you consider participating in this global day of giving by supporting both the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra and Rise Up for Homes. As a special incentive, when you donate $10 or more to each cause, you will receive a free student ticket to the NBSO’s Family Holiday Pops concert, which takes place on December 17 at the Zeiterion Theatre. The NBSO/RUFH partnership will continue with a clothing drive at the Holiday Pops concert where warm hats, gloves, scarves, socks, and blankets will be collected for distribution to South Coast families.

To make your #GivingTuesday donations on November 29, visit the NBSO’s website at www.nbsymphony.org and the Rise Up for Homes website at www.riseupforhomes.com, or text RISEUP to 50155 to make a donation from your mobile phone.

Rise Up for Homes is a collaborative campaign established by the members of the City of New Bedford’s Homeless Service Providers Network (HSPN) designed to build community awareness as well as raise funds to meet the complex needs of homeless individuals and families in our community. We are working to change the narrative about homelessness, to present facts and conversation to create innovative solutions to the problem, and to ensure everyone has a voice in this process. Visit riseupforhomes.com for more information.

The NBSO is a professional orchestra that annually presents a concert series of classical and pops music with prize-winning guest artists from around the world, as well as a chamber music series. In addition, the NBSO’s innovative and nationally recognized educational programs reach 30,000 students each year. The NBSO is dedicated to building a community of music in the South Coast but we need your help to do that. Visit nbsymphony.org for more information.
