National Park hosts Thursdays in the Park Concert Series Starting July 9th

The Cape Cod based duo, Julie Charland and Denya LeVine.

The 2015 Thursdays in the Park Concert Series kicks off with Julie and Denya’s Songs of the Sea, a family friendly performance of maritime songs featuring the Cape Cod based duo, Julie Charland and Denya LeVine. The free concert takes place as part of the Kid’s Rule AHA Night, Thursday, July 9 Whaling National Historical Park, (33 William Street), downtown New Bedford. In the event of inclement weather, the performance will be moved indoors to the National Park Theater. th from 6:30-7:30 in the garden at New Bedford at New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park, (33 William Street), downtown New Bedford. Julie Charland and Denya LeVine perform sea shanties, folk songs, familiar 20th century music and lively fiddle tunes, all on the theme of the sea. They play guitar, fiddle, and ukuleles, and their vocal harmonies sparkle with joyous energy. Julie is a Nashville recording artist, award-winning songwriter, and local folk and bluegrass musician with Toast And Jam. Denya’s a full time musician who’s performed on Cape Cod and in southeastern Massachusetts with folk and ethnic bands for 30 years. This duo has a zest for life that is contagious.

This year’s Thursday in the Park Concert Series is co-sponsored by the New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center, a new non-profit organization dedicated to telling the story of the City’s commercial fishing industry.
