Mikey “Mohawk” Tavares has delivered Thanksgiving meals to a dozens of New Bedford families over the past few years. Initially he was doing this charitable act out of his own pocket and planned to give away a complete Thanksgiving me with all the fixing for five families.
When he realized that he could benefit more families with the help of locals, he reached out to see if others felt generous and charitable for the approaching holidays. Of course, New Bedford responded and FIFTEEN families were fed. This year’s objective is to assist double that many families.
