Chief Joseph Perkins reports that the Middleborough Police Department arrested and charged a woman with selling fentanyl and other drugs Tuesday afternoon.

RAKEL OLAFSDOTTIR, AGE 28, OF MIDDLEBOROUGH was charged with:

· Possession to Distribute a Class A Drug (Fentanyl)
· Possession to Distribute a Class B Drug (Percocet)
· Possession of a Class B Drug (Suboxone)
· Possession of a Class C Drug (Klonopin)

At approximately 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, Middleborough Police executed a search warrant at OLAFSDOTTIR’S home at 410 Wareham St. During the search of her home, officers located and seized seven grams of fentanyl, the prescription drugs Percocet, Suboxone and Klonopin, $11,000, multiple scales and drug packaging materials. OLAFSDOTTIR was subsequently arrested without incident.

The two-and-a-half-month investigation comes as a result of several Middleborough overdose victims and family members of overdose victims (non-fatal) coming forward to police and stating that OLAFSDOTTIR was allegedly selling drugs that led to people overdosing. The information provided by the residents helped Middleborough Police to obtain their search warrant of OLAFSDOTTIR’S home.

OLAFSDOTTIR is expected to be arraigned today in Wareham District Court.

“I think people are starting to get fed up with the overdoses and I am grateful to those families who came forward to help put this woman behind bars,” Chief Perkins said. “If anyone else would like to come forward to talk, please call the Middleborough Police Department at 508-947-1212.”

The investigation remains ongoing.

These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
