Two men arrested in New Bedford for stealing tires

This morning at approximately 2am south end officers responded to the area of Grape and Oak St. regarding two males stealing tires from a vehicle.

Upon arrival they observed a Honda Accord with two wheels missing and resting on milk crates. A witness had called 911 and gave a description of the suspects, as well as, the fleeing vehicle.

Shortly thereafter, Officers Jonny Galarza and Steven Alers stopped a vehicle matching the description traveling north on Cottage St. near Arnold St.

On the rear seat were the two tires stolen from the south end. They were returned to the owner.

Scheduled to be arraigned this morning in New Bedford District Court;

– Kelvin Trinidad age 19 of Nye St. New Bedford
– Brett Silva age 18 of Ashley Blvd. New Bedford

Both are being charged with larceny exceeding $250 and Malicious destruction of a motor vehicle.
