Massachusetts State Troopers arrest 3 from Vermont for narcotics violations

Wednesday evening, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Trooper Anthony Lavigne, assigned to the State Police – Shelburne Falls Barracks, was patrolling I-91 in the town of Bernardston, and he stopped a BMW 328 for motor vehicle violations.

With the assistance of Trooper Jeffrey Murray and Trooper George D’Amelio, the driver was identified as SEAN M. LEWIS, 43, as well as two passengers, CALVIN R. THERRIEN, 38, and ASHLEY N. NEWLAND, 34, all of White River Junction Vermont, were all found to be in possession of approximately 23 grams of cocaine, as well as approximately 100 bags of heroin. LEWIS was also found to have a suspended Vermont driver’s license.

All three were placed under arrest and brought to the State Police Shelburne Falls Barracks for booking.

All three were charged with the following:

1. Trafficking in cocaine;
2. Possess with intent to distribute Class A drug (heroin);
3. Conspiracy to violate drug law.

In addition to the three charges, LEWIS was also charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

THERRIEN was held on $10,000 bail, LEWIS was held on $5,000 bail, and NEWLAND was held on $1,000 bail, pending arraignment in Greenfield District Court.
