Massachusetts State Troopers subdue 72-year old carjacker after rolling vehicle

At 4:44 p.m. multiple 911 callers reported a carjacking that occurred on the Bowker Overpass over Storrow Drive in Boston. A 72-year-old Hyannis man forcibly removed the occupants of a Kia SUV before fleeing the scene in the vehicle. He operated the Kia counter to traffic striking numerous other vehicles before crashing and rolling over on Boylston Street near the base of the Bowker Overpass.

Troopers arrived on scene and restrained the man. He was transported to Beth Israel Hospital by ambulance for a mental health evaluation. No other injuries were reported. Charges are being investigated by troopers assigned to State Police-Boston and Troop H Detectives.
