Shortly after 11 a.m. on December 1, Trooper Mark Thomas, assigned to State Police-Andover, was patrolling Route 93 in Wilmington. While he was traveling northbound prior to Exit 41 he observed a black BMW sedan with no license plate on the rear of the vehicle. Trooper Thomas activated his blue lights and initiated a motor vehicle stop.

Upon the BMW coming to a full stop Trooper Thomas approached the passenger side and identified the operator as JAHMAR CLARKE, 21, of Boston. He informed CLARKE why he was stopped and returned to his cruiser to conduct an electronic RMV inquiry. The results of the inquiry revealed CLARKE had two active warrants for his arrest. He was removed and placed under arrest by Trooper Thomas.

Trooper Thomas then requested a tow truck to remove the vehicle and conducted an inventory of its contents. During the inventory Trooper Thomas located a .22 caliber pistol loaded with a round in the chamber ready to fire. It was later discovered the firearm was reported stolen in South Carolina.

CLARKE was transported to State Police-Andover where he was booked. A bail commissioner was contacted and ordered CLARKE to be held without bail. He was later transported to Woburn District Court for arraignment on the following charges:

Carrying a Loaded Firearm;
Illegal Possession of a Firearm;
Receiving Stolen Property;
Possession of a Firearm without FID Card;
Possession of a Firearm with 1 Prior Violent Crime;
Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle;
License Plate Violation; and
No Inspection Sticker.
