“Troopers assigned to the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section (MSP VFAS), with assistance from an MSP detective and Lawrence Police, today located and arrested a man wanted on warrants for armed robbery, assault with a dangerous weapons, firearm offenses, and making threats. The offenses listed in the warrants were committed in Methuen.

During a subsequent search of the residence where the suspect was found, Troopers and Officers located a handgun believed to a “ghost gun” — an untraceable gun assembled from parts purchased separately.

The arrest came after several months of searching for the suspect, MARINO PIMENTAL, 20. MSP VFAS Troopers last summer began working with Troopers from the State Police Detective Unit for Essex County to find PIMENTAL.

As the investigation progressed over the ensuing months, numerous addresses were checked and potential sources of information were interviewed, but PIMENTAL was not located.

Recently, MSP VFAS developed a possible address for PIMENTAL on Fern Street in Lawrence. Troopers from MSP VFAS and a Trooper from the Essex State Police Detective Unit, along with Lawrence Officers, went to the address this morning.

A woman — who gave a false name but was later identified as GLENNY TORBIO, 39 — answered the door. Troopers determined TORBIO was wanted on a warrant for narcotics distribution and placed her under arrest.

The arrest team located PIMENTAL in a bedroom and taken into custody. Troopers observed a gun next to him on the television stand,in plain sight. During subsequent execution of a search warrant, Troopers recovered the weapon, a suspected “ghost gun” with a Glock P80 frame. They also seized 17 rounds of .45 caliber ammunition, one 9mm round, and numerous pills believed to be Alprazolam.

PIMENTAL was arrested on the warrants. Additional charges are pending.”
