A Massachusetts State Police Trooper has been fired after barely a year on the force.
The unnamed trooper was relieved of duty on Tuesday by Massachusetts State Police Col. Christopher Mason for what he called unacceptable behavior and the use of racial slurs. The incident happened when the now former trooper approached a man parked in his vehicle on Revere Beach Boulevard.
“I am disgusted and disappointed by the conduct that occurred, which is the antithesis of the standards of conduct and personal behavior we expect and demand of our members The action taken today underscores the position I have affirmed since I became colonel, specifically, that we will have no tolerance for such conduct and will move to resolve such matters as quickly as possible. This subject is not fit to wear the badge or call themselves a member of the department.” said Col. Mason.
The trooper was assigned to the Danvers Barracks as part of the 85th recruit training troop that graduated in May.
Col. Mason has not only ordered a complete investigation by the department’s office of professional integrity and accountability but has referred the incident to Attorney General Maura Healey for review for any potential civil rights violations or criminal conduct.
